EDU 131: What It Means to Know and Do Mathematics

This course integrates mathematics content and pedagogy and is specifically designed for students majoring in early childhood, elementary, and/or special education (K-6), referred to as teacher candidates. The mathematics content focuses on algebraic reasoning, geometric reasoning, and proportional reasoning. The pedagogical focus emphasizes developing an understanding of what it means to know and do mathematics, with an emphasis on problem solving, reasoning, and sense making.
